The beginning

Namarah Kaye

a.k.a

Marah Cakes

It began in a fun-filled kitchen in Memphis. Baking bread and cakes was the weekend activity for Namarah and her mother Kiersten Willams , who is an award winning visual artist. Namarah received her nickname “Marah Cakes” from a family member. The name remains until this day.

When Namarah launches her unique concepts, she uses her alias. For an example, the infamous “Stretchy Wretchy” keychains made from hair bands was a hit and sold out at her school, branded under Marah Cakes. When she won 2nd place in a portrait competition, she signed “NKL” (Namarah Kaye Lee). At a young age, Namarah controls her creative process which is key in the world of art.

When an idea arises, NK runs it!

Early 2025, Namarah Kaye decided to write affirmations, put them in a jar, took them to school and asked her peers to blindly pick one from the jar. “I am Creative” , “ I am Smart” “I am Beautiful”. The children went wild with high-fives and hugs—just what they needed. Although there are other projects in the works such as the return of Stretchy Wretchy keychains, the affirmation series has evolved into her T-Shirt and accessory merch available in her store.

“She’s always been gifted and excited about art. Everyday Marah is growing into her artistry and entrepreneurship ”, says Kiersten Willams, her mom and #1 fan.
